Bersabarlah...

5 Things That Really Smart People Do

Don't get in the way of your own learning. Here are five ways to step aside and continue to increase your smarts.
Most people don't really think much about how they learn. Generally you assume learning comes naturally. You listen to someone speak either in conversation or in a lecture and you simply absorb what they are saying, right? Not really. In fact, I find as I get older that real learning takes more work. The more I fill my brain with facts, figures, and experience, the less room I have for new ideas and new thoughts. Plus, now I have all sorts of opinions that may refute the ideas being pushed at me. Like many people I consider myself a lifelong learner, but more and more I have to work hard to stay open minded.
But the need for learning never ends, so your desire to do so should always outweigh your desire to be right. The world is changing and new ideas pop up everyday; incorporating them into your life will keep you engaged and relevant. The following are the methods I use to stay open and impressionable. They'll work for you too. No matter how old you get.

1. Quiet Your Inner Voice

You know the one I am talking about. It's the little voice that offers a running commentary when you are listening to someone. It's the voice that brings up your own opinion about the information being provided. It is too easy to pay more attention to the inner voice than the actual speaker. That voice often keeps you from listening openly for good information and can often make you shut down before you have heard the entire premise. Focus less on what your brain has to say and more on the speaker. You may be surprised at what you hear.

2. Argue With Yourself

If you can't quiet the inner voice, then at least use it to your advantage. Every time you hear yourself contradicting the speaker, stop and take the other point of view. Suggest to your brain all the reasons why the speaker may be correct and you may be wrong. In the best case you may open yourself to the information being provided. Failing that, you will at least strengthen your own argument.

3. Act Like You Are Curious

Some people are naturally curious and others are not. No matter which category you are in you can benefit from behaving like a curious person. Next time you are listening to information, make up and write down three to five relevant questions. If you are in a lecture, Google them after for answers. If you are in a conversation you can ask the other person. Either way you'll likely learn more, and the action of thinking up questions will help encode the concepts in your brain. As long as you're not a cat you should benefit from these actions of curiosity.

4. Find the Kernel of Truth

No concept or theory comes out of thin air. Somewhere in the elaborate concept that sounds like complete malarkey there is some aspect that is based upon fact. Even if you don't buy into the idea, you should at least identify the little bit of truth from whence it came. Play like a detective and build your own extrapolation. You'll enhance your skills of deduction and may even improve the concept beyond the speaker's original idea.

5. Focus on the Message Not the Messenger

Often people shut out learning due to the person delivering the material. Whether it's a boring lecturer, someone physically unappealing, or a member of the opposite political party, the communicator can impact your learning. Even friends can disrupt the learning process since there may be too much history and familiarity to see them as an authority on a topic. Separate the material from the provider. Pretend you don't know the person or their beliefs so you can hear the information objectively. As for the boring person, focus on tip two, three, or four as if it were a game, thereby creating your own entertainment.

7 Easy Ways to Improve a Bad Day

Don't let a bad morning ruin your entire day. Use these mental tricks to change your momentum.http://www.inc.com/images/spacer.gif
Had a lousy morning? Things looking grim?
Not to worry. The rest of your day need not be a disaster. It can in fact become one of your best, providing you take these simple steps:
1. Remember that the past does not equal the future.
There is no such thing as a "run of bad luck." The reason people believe such nonsense is that the human brain creates patterns out of random events and remembers the events that fit the pattern.
2. Refuse to make self-fulfilling prophesies.
If you believe the rest of your day will be as challenging as what's already happened, then rest assured: You'll end up doing something (or saying) something that will make sure that your prediction comes true.
3. Get a sense of proportion.
Think about the big picture: Unless something life-changing has happened (like the death of a loved one), chances are that in two weeks, you'll have forgotten completely about whatever it was that has your shorts in a twist today.
4. Change your threshold for "good" and "bad."
Decide that a good day is any day that you're above ground. Similarly, decide that a bad day is when somebody steals your car and drives it into the ocean. Those types of definitions make it easy to be happy–and difficult to be sad.
5. Improve your body chemistry.
Your body and brain are in a feedback loop: A bad mood makes you tired, which makes your mood worse, and so forth. Interrupt the pattern by getting up and moving around.  Take a walk or eat something healthy.
6. Focus on what's going well.
The primary reason you're convinced it's a bad day is that you're focusing on whatever went wrong. However, for everything going badly, there are probably dozens of things going well.  Make list, and post it where it's visible.
7. Expect something wondrous.
Just as an attitude of doom and gloom makes you see more problems, facing the future with a sense of wonder makes you alive to all sorts of wonderful things that are going on, right now, everywhere around you.

Everything Happens For a Reason

Total eclipse of the heart -Bonnie Tyler-

Untuk Seorang Bernama Wanita

Kepadamu wanita..
Para lelaki pula jangan hanya mengharap ketaatan tetapi binalah kepimpinan.
Pastikan sebelum memimpin wanita menuju Allah, pimpinlah diri sendiri dahulu kepadaNya.

Reading Men's Body Language

Sometimes body language can be even more telling than spoken words. Men can be hard to read, so if you want to learn how to translate your guy's body language, take a look at these examples:
1.He is seated with his legs crossed, foot facing you.
This position is a good sign! It means that he turned on by you... so lean in for a kiss!
2.He is seated with his legs crossed, foot facing away from you.
Bad sign... this indicates lack of interest. Has he seemed bored lately? Maybe it is time to spice things up, before the flame goes out completely. Beware: if he is seated with his legs crossed, foot facing some other girl, then he has a wandering eye.
3.When he holds your hand, your fingers are interlocked.
This is a fabulous sign... it means that he feels very connected with you. He doesn't feel smothered, and he isn't afraid to show the world how much he loves his lady!
4.When he holds your hand, you are palm-in-palm.
Not so good. On the bright side, at least he is holding your hand at all. But on the other hand, he is just loosely holding it, not wanting to get too attached... and that is wear your relationship probably stands too. With this position, he is leaving himself an easy opportunity to pull away, particularly if he sees someone he doesn't want to explain his relationship to. This is a guy who has a fear of commitment, and he might just be using you.
5.He doesn't look you in the eyes when he is talking.
It has been said that the eyes are the windows to the soul. This body language is a clear indication that he has something to hide. If he keeps diverting his gaze, he is not focused on you or on your relationship. This guy has a secret, and unless it is a surprise party for you, it's not good.
6.He keeps touching his hair or his face while is talking.
He is trying to pull the attention away from whatever he is talking about. Why? Because he is lying through his teeth. He is fidgeting because he is uncomfortable, and he is afraid that you are going to be suspicious... which you should be. Tell him to give the truth a try.
7.He is biting his nails.
Gross... but don't give up on him yet. This guy is a basket of nerves, and the reason for his nervousness is that he really likes you and wants to make the best possible impression on you. Hopefully this shy guy will kill the nasty habit once he is more comfortable and relaxed... try to put him at ease.
8.He keeps his arms crossed when you are seated beside each other.
What a grouch! Body language like this just screams, "I am not into this!"Unfortunately, there really isn't a love connection here. And on top of that, he is completely emotionally shut off. He does not want to open up you, and he doesn't want to share his life with you... or probably anyone right now. You are better off. An emotionally repressed man is a tough nut to crack.
9.He touches you frequently while you are in conversation.
Great news: not only is he interested in what you are saying, but he is way into you!You are irresistible to this guy. Plus, he isn't afraid to show affection in a physical way, which probably means he is a good communicator.
10.He sits with his legs wide open.
This can be one of two possibilities. One, he is an open book. He has nothing to hide, and no reason to hide it. He is giving you the green light to share your feelings with him, and he wants to reciprocate in kind. Or two, he is looking to take things to a physical level, and he is hoping that you will follow his lead.
Whenever you are trying to read a man's body language, make sure you aren't getting ahead of yourself. Look for patterns of behavior rather than an isolated incident. Also, be conscious of your own body language. You will notice yourself giving off clues about your feelings. Happy translating... hopefully you will like what you read!

Read Body Language: Attraction And Flirting

If you are single and looking for love, here is a fact that might surprise you.Ninety percent of what you say to the people you meet is non-verbal.Very often we give clues and signals to those we are attracted to without even realizing it.In most cases, you are reading someone's signals and forming a negative or positive impression without knowing why you are doing so.Non-verbal signals, or what is known as body language, can have five times more of an effect on a person than the actual words you may speak.
One of the most common types of body language is the smile. The smile is a universal sign of acceptance and happiness.A smile that reaches the eyes is a genuine smile that says you are welcome to come closer.
Something else to look for is eye contact.Sometimes you can almost feel someone looking at you, or you catch it from the corner of your eye.If someone you may find interesting is looking at you, turn towards him or her and lock eyes, but for only a few seconds.A direct stare lasting more than a few moments can be considered aggressive or hostile.Hold the contact for a few moments and then look down.Don't forget to smile.
If you can see someone looking at you from across the room look for other signs of interest.A person may gaze at you, look away, and then return their gaze to you again. They will probably have a slight smile on their face.If you turn and catch the gaze, and they smile or even blush and look down, you have caught their interest.
When you are talking with someone for the first time there are quite a few signals they can give you as to their willingness to continue the conversation.Subtle non-verbal signs are given off that can say "I like you" or "I am interested".

Learn How To Be Successful Women...

How can I be a successful woman? You can start by never being a victim. This article aims its message at those women who strive to be strong, independent women. Women should always try to be self-reliant. Many times the only thing separating a woman from success is her level of self-esteem. Sadly, so many women view themselves as subservient or worth less than men.
Many times this is because of a lack of education or work experience. So many homemakers especially view themselves as "just Moms and housewives".
This is a dangerous way in which to view our accomplishments. The jobs that a homemaker or mom is responsible are among the most important in the world. If we as citizens give credit where credit is due, as well as wages, then this would be the highest paid social class by far. Sadly, this is not the case
Any woman who runs a house is qualified to be a CEO. Just poll women, they will confirm this. Too often the role of women is that of nursemaid and maid. Although many of us women truly love our role of caregiver, others want to be recognized as much more- a successful woman!
We need to have other "normal" women as role models. When we see intelligent and very successful women that were homemakers and "nursemaids" if you will, that is when women will no longer have to strive to be a success.
A good role model is what can mold a woman into a strong, well-defined woman. Not all of us are lucky enough to have had a strong influence from the women in our lives, though. Mentors are also a priceless commodity to any woman.
By forming a sense of community and sisterhood, women are able to accomplish so much. In this manner, women are also able to inspire the young women of tomorrow with visions of success. The best vision for a young girl to have is that of a good education.
An education is the best defense for any problem that a woman may encounter with her self-confidence and self-esteem. This is also the best defense against remaining reliant or dependent on anyone for her care. Women that are a success are not just corporate executives, but also homemakers. Be leaders in your community so that young girls see that they can emulate your success.
Young girls are not the only ones who should see their mothers and other female community member's being visible leaders, but so too should young men. When a man is raised by a strong woman that instills a sense of respect for women, he is better prepared for life in this new century that is filled with a need for continued equal rights.
A woman who prepares her son in this manner is also giving him the best gift- a better chance at a successful relationship or marriage. Men that see their wives as equals and whom show them respect are much less likely to experience relational difficulties with women.
Through education, community, and self-esteem, men and women can both work together to form a community that will be a much better world for our youth.

Be Honestly...

Be Formless, Be Water

“Empty your mind.
Be formless, shapeless, like water.
If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup.
You put water into a bottle, it becomes the bottle.
You put it into a teapot, it becomes the teapot.
Water can flow, and it can crash.
Be like water, my friend…”

More Is Not Enough

One day he passed a wealthy merchant’s house. Through the open gateway, he saw many fine possessions and important visitors. “How powerful that merchant must be!” thought the stone cutter. He became very envious and wished that he could be like the merchant.

To his great surprise, he suddenly became the merchant, enjoying more luxuries and power than he had ever imagined, but envied and detested by those less wealthy than himself. Soon a high official passed by, carried in a sedan chair, accompanied by attendants and escorted by soldiers beating gongs. Everyone, no matter how wealthy, had to bow low before the procession. “How powerful that official is!” he thought. “I wish that I could be a high official!”

Then he became the high official, carried everywhere in his embroidered sedan chair, feared and hated by the people all around. It was a hot summer day, so the official felt very uncomfortable in the sticky sedan chair. He looked up at the sun. It shone proudly in the sky, unaffected by his presence. “How powerful the sun is!” he thought. “I wish that I could be the sun!”

Then he became the sun, shining fiercely down on everyone, scorching the fields, cursed by the farmers and labourer. But a huge black cloud moved between him and the earth, so that his light could no longer shine on everything below. “How powerful that storm cloud is!” he thought. “I wish that I could be a cloud!”

Then he became the cloud, flooding the fields and villages, shouted at by everyone. But soon he found that he was being pushed away by some great force, and realized that it was the wind. “How powerful it is!” he thought. “I wish that I could be the wind!”

Then he became the wind, blowing tiles off the roofs of houses, uprooting trees, feared and hated by all below him. But after a while, he ran up against something that would not move, no matter how forcefully he blew against it – a huge, towering rock. “How powerful that rock is!” he thought. “I wish that I could be a rock!”

Then he became the rock, more powerful than anything else on earth. But as he stood there, he heard the sound of a hammer pounding a chisel into the hard surface, and felt himself being changed. “What could be more powerful than I, the rock?” he thought.

He looked down and saw far below him the figure of a stone cutter.

Reason to Travel The World

It’s Awesome:
Travelling just gives such a general sense of ‘WOW’. All the different experiences (both good and bad) just make you feel alive and part of this wonderful world.
Experience Different Cultures:
Living in one place for a long time (or all your life) can lead you to believe that everyone else has the same customs and habits. Venturing out to other countries with different cultures to yours can be really eye-opening. The ways in which people live throughout the world are truly fascinating.
Endless Choices and Possibilities:
There are 195 official countries in the world. When travelling, you have hundreds of choices of where to go, how long to stay and what to do. You can go to a place for adventure, sports, culture, work or just total relaxation. You can even make it a combination of all of the above.
You Will Grow As a Person:
Whoever you think you are right now and whatever you think you want from life right now will change if you travel for a long time. You will see the world, experience different cultures and meet many people. You will learn much about yourself and your expectations and goals in life may just change completely.
Better Social Skills:
When travelling, you are constantly in contact with people. Whether they be locals or tourists, you will need them, and they will need you. Initially it may be very hard, but over time you will become better at talking to strangers and making new friends.
Making New Friends:
Travelling the globe will result in you meeting many people, some interesting and some dull. The chances are big that you will make friends in many countries, and some of those friendships may be for life. I have some friends in countries around the world that I met on a vacation, and I could stay with them any time and visa versa.
Meet People from Every Nationality:
It’s not necessary but it can definitely be a fun goal. Speak to a person from every nationality.
Pay With Different Currencies:
There are so many different types of currencies in the world. Dollars, Euros, Pesos, Yens and countless others. Each currency has different coins and notes. Nice to look at and have in your wallet.
Experience Different Climates:
One of the beauties about travelling is that you have the choice where you want to go. This means you can choose the kind of climate you want to be in. You can have a year of summer or a year of winter. You can go to the sun in the middle of winter and to the snow in the middle of summer.
Realize That You Do Not Need Much To Survive:
I have lots of things in my room and my house at home. When I travel, I have a suitcase and a backpack, and I live out of that for months at a time. Besides a suitcase of clothes and some things like a laptop, camera and cellphone, all you need is money so you can rent an apartment and pay for your travels.
All The Delicious Foods and Dishes:
Different countries and different cultures mean different dishes and different food. Yummy food! I personally think eating is one of the more fun things to do in life. So travel and eat Indian, Thai, seafood, steak, rice, roasts and much much more.
Learn to Deal With Loneliness:
When travelling there will be times when you feel lonely or miss home. You will become a better person if you learn how to handle these emotions in a positive way and grow from them instead of letting it eat away at you.
Learn to Deal With Boredom:
Boredom is something that will inevitably show its head when you are out and about, travelling the world. However, it is up to you how that boredom affects you. There are always many different things you can do to never be bored, and on your travels you will discover how to get rid of boredom.
Become Street-Wise:
In different countries there are always scums and predators taking advantage of tourists. You will learn to spot these people and trust your judgement when something doesn’t feel right. You will also find that often you can negotiate and barter with people, because local prices are often much less than tourist prices for the same items or services.
Learn to Adapt and Improvise:
When travelling, there is not always a fixed plan or routine. Sometimes you will need to make adjustments on the spot in order to get things done and to get to where you need to be.
Increase Confidence and Trust in Yourself:
If you are travelling alone, or even with someone, there are always a lot of decisions that you have to make. Doubting yourself can cause a lot of hassle, so over time you will learn to be more confident with your decisions and trust your own judgement.
Travelling Can Be Cheap:
Some people think that travelling the world means spending a fortune. The most expensive part of travelling is probably the plane tickets. If you plan your travels you can find cheap accommodation and food and adventures do not have to be expensive either.

10 Golden Rules to Live By

1 – Do unto others as you want others to do to you.
Maybe you believe in karma and maybe you don’t. It’s my experience that you reap what you sow or “what goes around comes around”. Treat others with kindness and respect to get the same in return, but treat others like garbage and then you can be pretty sure it’ll come back to you (although maybe only much later and not the same people you did it to).

2 – Treasure your body for it is the vessel that guides you through your life.
You may think that money or success is important, but nothing is as important as your own body. Without it you can’t live. Make it a habit to eat a healthy and natural diet, be sure to exercise regularly and above all get plenty of sleep. Also try to keep your life as stress-free as possible, stress makes you age faster and makes you old before your time.

3 – Be honest and always tell the truth
Honesty is the best policy and it will do you far more good then harm. Be honest in your relationships, with your business ethics and with your personal morals. Although honesty is usually the better option, there will be times when a white lie is necessary to prevent hurting people’s feelings.

4 – Success requires hard work, persistence and a little creativity.
The best advice I can give you if you want to be successful is to not hope for a quick fix but to be prepared for the long haul. Real success with anything usually takes months and even years to achieve. Believe in yourself and believe in your dreams, keep learning and never give up. Try to find yourself a mentor to speed the learning process up. Sooner or later you’ll achieve your goals.

5 – Make a difference to a least one other person’s life.
I believe that we’re all on this planet together. Life isn’t meant to be completely selfish, we’re here to give to and help each other. Right now there are countless people who could use a helping hand so why not give back a little? You don’t necessarily have to give money. You can give some of your time or experience to help someone else with something you ’ve already overcome. Helping someone else is one of the most rewarding things you can do.

6 – Admit when you’re wrong and apologize.
Nobody is perfect and everyone makes mistakes from time to time. It’s perfectly okay. Even if you screw up and waste money, or time or hurt people’s feelings. But only if you admit you were wrong and apologize. You’ll be amazed how understanding people are when you’re humble and modest enough to admit that you made a mistake.

7 – You can learn something from everyone.
Don’t think you’re too good at something to listen to someone else. Don’t think that you’re better than someone else. Just as you can learn something from the successful CEO or entrepreneur, you can learn something from a homeless person. Everyone has something that they’re good at, so don’t be too quick to dismiss someone as having no value.

8 – Don’t be scared, go through life as fearlessly as possible.
Fear is an emotion designed to keep us alive. In our primitive days it kept us aware of our surroundings, suspicious of harmful situations and weary of unknown territory. Fear also holds us back from following our dreams, telling people how we really feel about them, and it can force us to stay inside our comfort zone for way too long. Ask yourself, “Would you rather play it safe to not risk failure or would you rather risk failure to really live and do what your heart tells you that you should do?”.

9 – Smile and laugh every single day.
A simple smile from a stranger can light up your entire day. Laughing makes your worries disappear. Make it a habit to laugh and smile as much as you can, because life is just so much better when you do. Positivity is contagious, and you’ll find that people will like you a whole lot more if you’re always happy compared to being grouchy and cynical.

10 – Count your blessings and be thankful for all the good things in your life.
The past is history, the future is a mystery and right now is a gift, that’s why they call it the “present”. You have no idea what tomorrow will bring, so be thankful for every single moment that you’re alive. Be grateful for your family, friends, freedom. Be grateful for the food you eat, for the fact that you have a warm, dry place to sleep with a roof over your head. Soak up every single drop of life you can, because all you’ll ever have is this moment, right now.

Am I ready to apologize.....

Apologizing is one of those things which we all need to do at some time.  It can be painful because no one likes apologizing because no one likes being wrong.  Even little kids hate apologizing, so it is probably this combination of aversion and lack of practice that make it hard to apologize in a sincere and constructive way.  That said, it’s not really that hard to give a good apology if you know you were wrong and are ready.  Apologizing well is a skill which can be very handy in all walks of life because we all make mistakes at some point, and a good apology will clear the air and allow you to move forward.

So what is a good apology?
The mark of a good apology is that the person who you are apologizing to will feel better and so will you.  It is a real win-win.  There is no point in leaving lingering pain in your life, you are only setting yourself up for future regrets.

Falling in Love...

Once in a lifetime
An angel sweeps you off your feet
And everything I'm about
Disappears before my eyes
You're taking me higher when I hear you speak to me
It feels so familiar but I'm caught up in this fantasy

Now I can't seem to find myself
Oh I can't seem to ease my mind
Oh I think I'm falling I'm falling and I can't stop falling
I'm falling in love with you

When I look into your eyes
I see your love that comforts me
Even now when I go to sleep
I wait to see you in my dreams
You're taking me higher when I hear you say my name
I'm trying to tell you that I never want to let you go

Over and over again
It plays out in my mind
I can see it clearly
You give me something new to believe in
Come take me away

YOUR DEFINITION OF SUCCESS

I talk a lot about how to achieve success, but on a greater level, what does success mean to me? What does it mean to you?
A few things are absolutely solid for me:
1) We must each define what success means to us as individuals, families, and communities.
Someone else's markers of success may or may not apply to you, so part of our task while we're here is to truly understand our own nature and focus on the real change we create by our lives here and now.
2) We get closer and closer to true success as we fulfill more and more of our life purpose.
I think you have more feelings of satisfaction and peace when you align yourself closer and closer with what you feel you were born to do. If your life purpose were fulfilled, you would be done! So every day that we're alive is another opportunity to make good on the promises we made ourselves when we were children.
If you ever said "When I grow up I'm going to........" then today's the day to start doing what you said you would do.
3) We find support, guidance, and friends along the way.
We are always surrounded by other people who support us on our journey. Sometimes we don't recognize them, or we don't yet know them, but I've found it more and more true that other individuals will come into our life when we need them.
We are all here to help each other.
Sometimes our biggest challenge is recognizing assistance when it shows up! There are mentors, teachers, guides, coaches, associates, and partners in our life. Find them and hold on to them!
4) Challenges along the way are sometimes here for our self-development.
There are many women who struggle at their workplace and who feel either left out, attacked/harrassed, or otherwise embattled. I don't condone abuse and I encourage you to leave if you feel at all threatened or if you're being harmed.
However, if you're in a situation that requires you to develop your personality more -- for example, if you're a woman in a male-dominated field, or if you're a younger woman in a management position over older men, or if you're being asked to take on more responsibility -- figure out the solution to find meaning, joy, value, and impact through your challenge.
5) When we share, we teach. When we teach, we learn.
It is so important for you to share your knowledge, skills, and experiences with those who want to hear your message. Think about all the times you have really struggled with your soul, with your life purpose, with powerful decisions, with things that have impacted you..... and think about how you navigated through those uncharted waters
Will your experience potentially help someone in a similar situation? I encourage you to pass on those life lessons to others to learn.
The truth about your success is that it is your step-by-step progress that defines success. Literally: success comes from the root Latin word succedere: to go up, follow after.
Every day is a challenge. Every day is an opportunity. Every day is another chance to create your definition of success.

True Beauty Inside

When you're in the checkout line and there's a fashion magazine in front of you, or when you watch television or view internet ads with gorgeous models pushing the latest product, here is a motto for you to remember:
True beauty comes from within.
Truly beautiful women realize that their gentle spirit, their courageous nature, and their fortitude in adversity are more valuable assets than jewels, designer handbags, or luxury shoes.
Truly beautiful women know that gratitude in their hearts makes more of an impact than cosmetic surgery.
Truly beautiful women understand that compassionate words, a kind voice, and patience when working with others makes more of an impression than a tailored suit.
Truly beautiful women believe that a warm smile makes more of a statement than jar upon jar of face cream.
Our biggest challenge is to accept the true nature of our inner beauty, and to honor and respect that of others.
I know you are beautiful inside: it's what makes you valuable, successful, and unique in our universe. True beauty is within: let your beauty shine.

9 Tips For Making a Better Life

I'm a firm believer in being as passionate as possible about what you do during your daily routine.
Why engage in an activity if you don't feel like it feeds your soul's purpose for being here? Why do something if it runs counter to your sense of freedom, being alive, and enthusiasm? Why do something at all if you're not going to do it as well as you can?
While some may be content to ho-hum their way through life, I'm here to remind you that every single day you're alive is a true blessing and a gift that you get (the present). You have a chance, every new morning, to do something that matters, that you feel great about, that you feel really happy to do, that you feel strongly about --- and you have an opportunity to take action towards those important topics, ideas, and values -- every day!
Where in your life are there parts where you've lost your spark or feel like the embers are dying down?
Do you feel like certain pieces are missing? Here are my sure-fire ways for you to get revved up again:
1) Volunteer
Do you feel like you're missing a true connection with others? Consider giving of your time to a cause that's important to you. At the school, library, church/temple/synagogue, or your community group or local charity: find something that makes you feel good and spend time doing it on behalf of others.
2) Donate
Consider making a list of all the individuals that were important to you, or have affected you in some way from your youth. Then, find an organization that matches each individual and make a donation to that organization. If a teacher was important to you, consider funding a PTA program at that school. If a youth counselor was important to you, give a one-time or recurring donation to that program. If an athletic coach was a great mentor, focus on donating to that sport. Make it a point to practice philanthropy and you'll realize how well-connected we all are to one another.
3) Join
Is there a sense of something lacking in your weekly routine? Join or participate in a group that matches your interests. Meetup is a great place to find topics close to your heart: perhaps you're an animal lover, or like reading, or enjoy the cinema, or are a fan of travel, or you really appreciate fine dining, or you're seeking other mommy-and-me type groups. Get out there with other people and participate in your hobby. We are all human, after all, and we enjoy and appreciate spending time with other like-minded people.
4) Start up a new project
Everyone deserves a space and a time to carve out something important. Perhaps you are a creative and want to do an art piece; or you are analytical and want to do research, or you are tactical and want to build things. Find a group, organization, or place that nurtures your talent and gives you a space to dream -- then come up with something to fill that space. If you dedicate just one hour a day (instead of watching television or playing on the Internet) towards your new endeavor, you'll be 30 hours into your great project after one month.
5) Meet others
Relationships are the "spice of life" and meeting people outside of your comfort zone will stimulate you into thinking about, and understanding, more diversity and variety. You can meet people at work, through friends, or through new organizations. Make some dates for coffee, breakfast, or lunch and start building some new relationships.
6) Exercise
If your health is not good, your entire outlook will not be good. Consider shaping up with an exercise program: run, jog, walk, swim, or do calisthenics on a regular basis and you'll reap benefits with your physical self and you'll feel terrific. It helps to have a workout buddy or someone you report to on a regular basis after you complete your exercise. Make it a part of your routine, and include a focus on heart-healthy foods and less intake of fat, sugar, salt, and non-nutritious options.
7) Declutter
Too much stuff around you will sap your energy and drain your desire to create. If you're constantly having to look at piles of stuff, or if you have too much paper, start getting rid of unnecessary items and develop a system to recycle/toss/re-circulate things that are not important to you.
8) Envision
Develop your dreamboard. This is a list of pictures, ideas, phrases, and values that you post prominently and think upon every day. With it, you gain a renewed focus and an ability to put your brain's efforts towards believing the reality you're envisioning. If you don't build it first "in your mind" you will never be able to build it in reality, so truly consider what your ultimate vision for your life feels, tastes, smells, and looks like.
9) Enjoy
If you are not enjoying life, consider what you can do to increase your pleasure. With a reason to live, or something to be happy about, you will be more positive and have more zest for your day-to-day routine. What do you enjoy? Find an activity or relationship you are happy to be involved in - and cultivate it.
